At James H. Groves Adult High School we provide the opportunity for students to learn in accordance with their abilities, interests, and aspirations within the framework of standards prescribed by the State Board of Education. Therefore the faculty and staff believe:
- Curriculum reflects the needs of the adult learners and enhances the individuals’ opportunities for employment and lifelong learning.
- Students, staff, and administration interaction enhances the quality of the educational program.
- Productivity increases as self-esteem increases.
- Student goals must be addressed in the instructional setting.
James H. Groves and other New Castle County schools have joined together to provide services for students who are unable to complete graduation requirements during the regular school day. The program will permit students to continue their education at their home school and attend classes at the James H. Groves Adult High School.
Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes offer an opportunity to build reading, writing and math skills whether you have a secondary credential or not. Many of our ABE students go on to earn a Groves Adult High School Diploma or GED® credential.
ESL (English as a Second Language) classes offer an opportunity to study the subjects of Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening and Citizenship. Students will strengthen their knowledge of the English Language and continue their education.
