GED® Preparation Classes

Adult Basic Education provides instruction in the basic skills of mathematics, reading, and writing in preparation for the GED® test to improve employment skills for entry into the James H. Groves Adult High School and open the path to additional educational and/or career opportunities.

Are you interested in obtaining your GED® but unsure where to start? Look no further!

Although not a testing site, we offer GED prep classes to help you gain more knowledge and confidence. After a placement test, we can determine what areas may need more improvement, and that helps with assuring a higher success rate in passing the GED tests.

Below are some of the frequently asked questions.

What is the GED®test?

The GED test is made up of 4 subjects that are broken into separate exams. This is great as it means you don't have to take all 4 tests at once and allows you to become more familiar with the setting of the testing site and the test structure itself.

Below are the 4 Subjects that you have to pass to receive your High School Equivalent Diploma:

  1. Reasoning through Language Arts (RLA)
  2. Mathematical Reasoning
  3. Science
  4. Social Studies

Do I have to take the GED® prep classes to test?

You do not have to take our GED® preparation classes; however, all our students say they feel much more well-prepared when testing. You are more than welcome to check out the GED® website (click here) to get an idea of what the test holds. The free resources on their site can help you gauge your level of comfort and knowledge, helping you decide whether our GED® Prep is a fit for you.

What is the GED®  prep program exactly?

Our GED® Preparation Program prepares you to earn a secondary credential through testing. Although this state document is not a High School Diploma, it is recognized by the State Board of Education. So, after you pass the GED® test, your credential will be issued by the State Board of Education and you will receive a GED® transcript to apply to colleges, start training, or get a better job.

Although our Marshallton location is not a GED® testing center, we work closely with the GED® testing centers nearby.

What is the cost to enroll and attend?
